IKA (Employees National Insurance)

Renovation plans (schedule of works) need to be submitted to the IKA office. The work to be done will be assessed by this office and they will estimate how many days work is required to complete the specific job, and therefore how much tax needs to be paid for the workers. Each day someone (for the below type of work) works in the house, they are paid 1 IKA stamp. An Architect or approved person must submit the renovation details to this office. It is necessary to submit these plans before work commences or a fine will be incurred.

NB. Even if you undertake any of the below work yourself you will still be obliged to pay the insurance stamps. This payment whilst paid separately should be considered as part of a workman’s wage.

The categories of work which are considered in this system are:

Construction work
Brick work
Tiling
Painting
